MedPlus Designated A Management Services Organization by the Maryland Regional Extension Center
Physician Providers Offered Benefits of Care360 EHR Solution to Help Achieve Meaningful Use
November 18, 2010
MedPlus, the healthcare information technology subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics (NYSE: DGX), has been designated a Management Services Organization (MSO) by the Maryland Regional Extension Center (REC) - The Chesapeake Regional Information System for our Patients (CRISP).
The CRISP REC was awarded $5.5 million in April 2010 to assist 1,000 primary care providers in deploying Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology to improve the quality and value of health care through the adoption of Meaningful Use standards, and connect physician practices to a statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE).
For MedPlus, the MSO designation in Maryland means that the company completed a rigorous process that included a self-assessment evaluation consistent with established criteria, and submitted other necessary documentation to prove that the company has the technical knowledge and IT infrastructure required to carry out Electronic Health Record (EHR) direct assistance services as defined by CRISP, including: Education, Implementation and Project Management, Practice and Workflow Redesign, Facilitation of CRISP HIE Connectivity, Implementation of Privacy and Security Best Practices, and Progress Towards Meaningful Use.
MedPlus will work with Maryland physician providers through CRISP to offer Care360 EHR, a web-based, modular ambulatory solution that allows physicians the flexibility to adopt the features they want at their own pace. Care360 EHR has capabilities including electronic lab order management, clinical messaging, ePrescribing, encounter documentation, document management and multi-system interoperability.
“This partnership with CRISP is an exciting new chapter for MedPlus for the remainder of 2010 and well into 2011, said Richard A. Mahoney, vice president of Healthcare Information Solutions for Quest Diagnostics and president of MedPlus, its healthcare information technology subsidiary. "It’s another positive step forward to continuing our mission of providing flexible technology that lets physicians choose the functionally they want when they wanwww.questdiagnostics.com/t it, while supporting their efforts to achieve Meaningful Use to ultimately receive ARRA incentives.”
