MEDPLUS®’ CHARTMAXX® RECEIVES TOP HONORS IN KLAS 2007 MID-YEAR REPORT
ChartMaxx receives highest performance and business indicator rating of all DMI vendors
August 20, 2007
LYNDHURST, N.J.– August 20, 2007 -- Healthcare professionals have again chosen MedPlus’ ChartMaxx® enterprise-wide, electronic health record system as the top healthcare document management and imaging software (DMI) product, according to the “KLAS’ 2007 Top: 20 Mid-Year Report,” an independent ranking based on customer feedback of top healthcare information technology (HIT) vendors. The latest report marks the fifth consecutive year that ChartMaxx, which helps hospitals and other healthcare organizations manage information for better patient care and business productivity, has been named the number one DMI product in KLAS’ mid-year report. MedPlus is the healthcare information technology subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics Incorporated (NYSE:DGX).
“Winning the prestigious KLAS report’s top rank of DMI vendors validates ChartMaxx’s ability to help healthcare organizations deliver better patient care and build a stronger business,” said Richard Mahoney, vice president, Healthcare Information Solutions at Quest Diagnostics and MedPlus president. “Knowledge is power, and the healthcare industry is rapidly adopting information technologies to harness the power of health-related information to reduce costs and improve healthcare. As the industry ushers in a new model of patient care based on HIT, we will continue to develop ChartMaxx as an ever-more powerful tool that healthcare professionals can use to maximize the value of patient data across departments and facilities.”
KLAS rankings are based on interviews with healthcare executives, professionals and clinicians at more than 4,500 hospitals and 2,500 clinics in the U.S. Ratings are based on confidential feedback received from vendors’ current customers to 40 questions covering topics ranging from the quality of training and services and to whether the product lived up to expectations. KLAS research analysts assess evaluation forms, completed online or via fax or email, with in-depth confidential interviews with each survey participant. Document management and imaging (DMI) software vendors provide products that can scan, create, archive, workflow and validate electronically stored documents and images, excluding patient X-rays and other clinical images.
Among DMI vendors, MedPlus secured the highest performance and business indicator score, which is a measure of the number of times a vendor’s product is ranks first, second or third among vendors for response to each survey question. MedPlus also ranked number nine among all 88 vendors assessed by KLAS for the Top 20 Ranking.
Jared Peterson, vice president of Operations for KLAS and author of the 2007 DMI report, said: “KLAS applauds those vendors that have consistently proven their commitment to customers. Based on the feedback from their clients, MedPlus has rated Best in KLAS for DMI for 5 consecutive years.”
The KLAS mid-year report includes healthcare executives’ favorable commentary that highlights ChartMaxx’ value. “We love the product. We have had such good success with it. I have heard throughout the organization that it is one of the only systems that our medical staff, across the board, have really embraced and really liked,” said one KLAS survey respondent. “We are planning to expand use of ChartMaxx into several other areas within our organization because of our positive experience with this product,” commented another survey responder. Other comments included: “Our department routinely receives very high marks from physicians. I attribute that to ChartMaxx and the quality of information they can get from that product and our transcription quality” and “A really good thing about MedPlus is … they keep enhancing the product and pushing it forward. We really appreciate this because it has enabled us to move ChartMaxx throughout our enterprise into areas such as medical records, business office, finance, etc. …ChartMaxx really has become a valuable tool for our organization.”
Today, MedPlus has more than 100,000 ChartMaxx products installed in hospitals and integrated delivery systems throughout North America with 300,000 clinical and administrative users managing more than 400 million clinical and administrative documents for 15 million patients.
In addition to the mid-year report, ChartMaxx has received top ranking in the KLAS End-Year report for 2006, 2005, 2004, and 2002.
