Human Resources Generalist

 

Job Summary:

Perform general human resource activities, including employment, compensation, benefits, training and development, as well as providing policy and procedure assistance to the employees of the Company.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process payroll on a bi-weekly basis
  • Serve as liaison between employees and insurance carriers
  • Work with the Corporate Trainer in coordinating training and development courses.
  • Provide advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Maintain and distribute monthly time off report for Vacation, Sick/Personal and Holiday usage
  • Monitor and close out terminated employee files
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance, monitoring and updating I-9 Employment Eligibility.
  • Monitor employee eligibility for medical and dental insurance.  Review benefits with employees and process enrollment, cancellation or changes for medical and dental insurance.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit statements.
  • Coordinate employee events (United Way, Employee Recognition and summer events).
  • Work with Manager, Human Resources on all corporate initiatives. (Safety, Diversity and Wellness programs).
  • Assist Manager, Human Resources with various research projects and or special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Windows environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Must have a personality well-suited for a fast-paced working environment, including:
    highly professional, organized and service-oriented
  • Must have considerable discretion, judgment, tact and diplomacy as assignments may involve work of a confidential and complex nature
  • Ability to relate to individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to balance the needs to the Company with the needs of the Employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three plus years Human Resources experience
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint and MS Outlook
  • Experience with processing payroll.  ADP experience a plus
  • Related degree or PHR a plus
