Quality Assurance Engineer – Chartmaxx Server

Job Summary

This highly technical position is responsible for performing a variety of quality assurance activities on the server side application of the Chartmaxx product with in the MedPlus software development organization. MedPlus software is focused on the management of medical records and laboratory test orders and results. This position is focused on development of test environments, test plans and test programs for a variety of message based interfaces across multiple products.

Principal Responsibilities:

Design, development and execution of quality assurance test plans and strategies.
Participate in the review of new product requirements. Provides constructive feedback about the consistency and depth of the requirements.
Identifies tests that are most appropriate for automation, creates and maintains both automated and manual tests, and applies techniques that insure maintainable test assets.
Defines, develops and executes test strategies considering risk and cost of testing.
Design, development and maintenance of test assets. These assets will likely include unix shell scripts for automated functional testing activities.
Execution of test plans
Work with development engineers to identify and resolve defects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Good understanding of Software development life cycle with an emphasis on Quality Assurance.
Linux/Unix system administration experience.
Demonstrated skills with automation tools such as Perl or other scripting language.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to adapt and quickly refocus in an agile software development environment.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to understand the features and customer expectations of assigned responsibilities.
Database SQL queries and calls
Use of regular expressions in unix such grep and awk
Experience with vi editor

Optional Skills:

Knowledge of TCP/IP (Desirable)
Knowledge of HL7 (Desirable)
Knowledge Database administration on Oracle
Knowledge of apache web server
Knowledge with setting up peripheral devices on Unix such as tape drives
Experience with the ChartMaxx Server application and/or Workflow and/or DocStore
Experience with modifying the config files on the ChartMaxx product
Experience with Cognos and/or Cardiff
Experience with the hl7 processing with the ChartMaxx application
Experience with data archiving, tape back-ups

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (BS) or greater in applicable field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of Two (4) years of experience in a formal QA or Development role in a software development organization, working with the server side of the ChartMaxx product or equivilent experience.
Experience with Unix/Linux
