Senior Application Administrator


Summary: 

This position is responsible for providing installation and application support on a wide range of web and supporting applications. This position will entail installation and configuration of proprietary, multi-platform applications, installation of application patches, and troubleshooting application and post-installation issues with other teams. Most of the installations in production environments will require after-hours or weekend work.  This position provides technical leadership on troubleshooting issues and devices creative methods to monitor and alert on application failures.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Installation and configuration of proprietary applications in a Weblogic, J2EE environment.
  • Responsible for the day to day operations and 7X24 production support of the Medplus Care360 Production applications.
  • Work with the Helpdesk, Development, Database Operations and Server Operations teams on issue resolution.
  • Participate in the SDLC new product releases.
  • Handle on-call support pager duties on a rotation basis.
  •  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Weblogic, J2EE application servers, Web Technologies, Oracle Databases and JCAPS.
  • Working knowledge of Red Hat , HP-UX, Sun Solaris.
  • Must understand installation, configuration and troubleshooting processes for software and hardware.
  • Must be able to create/follow detailed installation plans, document the installation process, quantify the deployment effort and complete the installation work.
  • Unix scripting skills
  • Proven experience dealing with critical customer impacting, production applications.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead
  •  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of five years application installation and support experience.
  • 5 + Years server side application administration and troubleshooting experience.
  • Multi-platform exposure: Linux, Windows NT/2000, HP-UX , Sun Solaris
  • Experience with BEA Weblogic, J2EE installation and support.
  • Development experience in J2EE is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Scripting skills
  • IT Service Management (ITIL) experience or certification
  • Experience with HP Service Desk and HP Open View
  • BS in Computer Science or related field of study preferred.
  • Technical Project Management experience.
