Systems Support Engineer

Job Summary:


MedPlus is looking for a self motivated individual to become part of the MedPlus development team, with strong communication skills and able to maintain the development servers and tools. As a key member of the team, this individual will maintain multiple development servers and tools, as well as assist in ongoing upgrades and improvements to development tools and processes. Primary focus of this position is to assist the development team by maintaining servers and refining processes. Must be able to work in a fast paced, development environment. Excellent communication skills and teamwork required.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep servers and tools up and running. Respond to any server and tool failure.
  • Implement / update development tools as required.
  • Be SME for tools and systems; educate teams and field questions.
  • Generate system and tool documentation for new systems and tools and maintain existing documentation.
  • Assist development teams with environment modifications and integration as required.
  • Liaison between application development group and technical services department.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency on *nix based system, preferably RH ES 4.
  • Proficiency with *nix based system administration, preferably RH ES 4.
  • Proficiency with standard GNU tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting with any of the following: Bash, Perl, Python, Tcl.
  • Experience with Maven2 and Ant.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to document systems and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self starter and manage multiple priorities.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in Java development, JEE is a plus.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment utilizing the Scrum methodology.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with Weblogic, Continuous Integration, Maven Artifact Repositories, Software Revision Control and SQL databases.
  • Three (3) years experience on *nix based systems, using GNU tools.
  • Bachelors level degree or equivalent experience.
