Senior Windows / VMWare Engineer

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for support of Windows and VMware ESX operating systems for MedPlus. This position is within the Server Engineering and Operations group within the Technology Services department. The position reports to the Manager, Server Engineering and Operations.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Creation and maintenance of virtual servers with the VMWare ESX environment.
• Deployment of Windows patches and updates to the corporate Windows servers.
• Creation and deployment of Window servers
• Providing Tier 2 support to the Windows or VMWare ESX environment.
• Work with existing internal customers to identify physical servers that can be converted to virtual servers.
• Creation of DHCP scopes
• Creation of policies and procedures for Active Directory
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop integrated, creative solutions
• Hands on expertise in DHCP
• Hands on expertise with Windows and VMWare ESX operating systems
• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and customer service orientation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information effectively to groups
• Excellent planning, prioritization and documentation skills
• Hands on expertise Exchange, Active Directory, Storage & IP networking

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in a production Windows and /or VMWare ESX environment
• 5-8 years of IT experience.
• Experience in an ITIL or IT Service Management environment
