Senior Software Engineer - Hub #941

Job Summary
Looking for a motivated and results-oriented individual to become part of the MedPlus development team, with strong team leadership abilities and experience in architectural design. As a key member of the team this individual will design and develop complex Java-based applications, as well as modify and maintain the software. Primary focus of this position is to produce high-quality Enterprise Java applications.

Principal Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support production applications using Java and J2EE technologies
• Perform senior programming assignments for diverse and complex project tasks in Unix and Windows environments.
• Contribute to the focus and effectiveness of the development team; tracking issues to resolution, monitoring the effectiveness of tasks, and providing status to the team lead.
• Develop software independently as well as under direction from other development team leads and other members of the team.
• Maintain and debug existing application code.
• Generate design specifications, and code to conform to specifications.
• Work with project manager to define work breakdown and provides effort estimates for tasks.
• Participate in design and code reviews.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Candidate must be a senior-level engineer capable of working independently and in teams, and effectively prioritizing tasks and responsibilities.
• Proven design, debugging, and programming skills using Java and J2EE technologies.
• Experience with server-side Web Services (EJBs & weblogic
• Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
• Competent in developing accurate estimates and risk assessments
• Strong object design orientation
• Demonstrated ability to document design and coding decisions.

Qualifications

• BS of Computer Science or equivalent
• 3.2. Four (4) years experience with custom application software development using Java.
• 4.3. Three (3) years experience using enterprise Java technologies.
